  • New in v5.0: Configure fields in the specimen tree

At present, the specimens tree is displayed on per visit basis. This makes sense for collection/processing centres that keep track of specimens by visits. However, there are centres, which are more interested in knowing the participant specimens rather than the visits in which those specimens were collected/processed.

A new tab for displaying all the specimens of the participant is added with the default fields in the specimen tree as ‘Description’, ‘Label’ and ‘Location’.

In v5.0 version, the specimen fields that are displayed in the specimen tree are configurable. These fields can be the default OS fields or the custom fields at specimen level.
Here, the specimen fields ‘Description’, ‘Pathology Status’, ‘Initial Quantity’, ‘Available Quantity’ and ‘Location’ are added.

Even the custom fields can be displayed in the same layout, here the field ‘Lab Number’ is a custom field at the specimen level.

For more details refer to the wiki page - https://openspecimen.atlassian.net/wiki/x/MIDsC and https://openspecimen.atlassian.net/wiki/x/sgB1C for configuration details.

    Thanks,
    Neha

    Hi,
I had a question about this new feature. Are the specimen custom fields also customisable at the Collection Protocol level, when setting up the Event and its Specimen requirements?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi @John_M,

Currently it is not possible to setup custom fields at the CP event or the specimen requirement level.

    Thanks,
    Neha

    Hi Neha,
Is the setup of custom fields at the CP event or the specimen requirement level in the pipeline as a future development?
    Thanks,
    John
