  • Aliquot type same as parent specimen type

When we collect specimens, we want the specimen type of the parent specimen to be fresh tissue, but the aliquots to be either frozen tissue or fixed tissue.
OpenSpecimen v4.3 forces the aliquots to be the same type as the parent specimen.
Is there a way around this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @kwatts59,

Currently it is not possible to create aliquots of type different than that of the parent specimen.
There needs to be a derivative of the type frozen or fixed tissue and then create aliquots out of the derivative. The hierarchy would be like below

    Parent specimen - Fresh Tissue
    Derivative - Frozen Tissue
    Aliquot 1 - Frozen Tissue
    Aliquot 2 - Frozen Tissue

However, in the latest version it is possible to create an aliquot directly from the parent specimen and OpenSpecimen will create an intermediate derivative.

    Thanks,
    Neha

Thank you for your reply. It is a bit bulky with the extra derivative specimen but it will work.
