  • New feature in v6.0 - Container defragmentation

Continuous usage of specimens results in unused spots in freezers. The biobank staff has to consolidate the freezers once in a while. This can be a tedious exercise to figure out the right spots to move the specimens such that the freezer is optimally used.

In v6.0, OpenSpecimen supports generating a “freezer defrag report”. The defragmentation feature gives suggestions to rearrange specimens. It also gives you an option to move the aliquots of a parent specimen in the same container.

Once you move the specimens, you can update OpenSpecimen to reflect the movements.
