  • SDE Plugin enhancements for sample centric collections

To better allow for sample centric collections in the SDE plugin it would be fantastic to have a few additional configuration options for the following:

    • Allow the participant list button to be hidden for a CP.
    • Allow the participant and event breadcrumb links to hidden when viewing a sample.
    • If you delete a sample, automatically delete the event and participant too.

In some collections we don’t store any participant details, so in these collections it doesn’t make sense to be able to see the participant and event screens. I understand a participant and event record is required to maintain the database integrity, but they don’t make sense from a user perspective and we should have options to hide them.

    Matt,

We have done a few improvements in the current SDE and plan to do a more in the near future.

    The ones done are:

    • Set default values for fields/dropdowns
    • Hide fields with default values (e.g. for a breast cancer study you might want to set gender is female but display it)
    • Subset PVs per study (e.g. you do not want to show all specimen types, or clinical diagnosis for every study)
    • Create SDE for CPs with 0 events
    • CSV upload: Ability to upload PV values based on concept code (this is a generic BO enhancement and available in CSV for deposits too) - (in progress)

We had an internal meeting to finalize the scope for “specimen centric” data entry and it includes:

    • Hiding participant button, breadcrumbs, etc
    • On clicking on a specimen, display the specimen page in “overview” mode
    • Clicking on edit, will display the SDE page configured for “single specimen”
    • On specimen overview page:
      • add a button to “Add Specimen” to the same patient
      • add an option to list other specimens for the same patient
    • Delete specimens:
    • If one specimen per patient, delete specimen + visit +patient in one go.
    • If there are other specimens for that patient, then just delete the specimen.

We do not have an expected release date for these features. We expect it to be in the next 3-4 months.
