Is it possible to have auto generation of bar codes but allow manual editing of the same?
At present, this is not possible. It is done this way to prevent collision of number sequences generated by auto process with those inputted by end user.
We would like to know use case though - when is auto generated label manually edited?
Thanks!
Ok, I understand why.
Use case was banker is happy with them auto generated, but 2 out of the 8 specimens on a protocol come in a tube with a bar code already generated. User wanted to scan that into label field/barcode field.

Can you help me understand the “User Inputs Allowed For” function in OS v2.x?
When an auto-generated specimen label format is specified and the Specimen Labels check box is selected for “User Inputs Allowed For,” the auto-generated label format does not work properly:
- Specimen label field appears blank
- When Submit is clicked, an error “Please fill out this field” appears
- If user enters a value for specimen label, an error “Specimen label is in incorrect format” appears
For a collection protocol that does not have specimen label formats, user input should be allowed. For a collection protocol with specimen label formats defined, should the specimen label field be editable? Should we advise not selecting the checkbox for “User Inputs Allowed For: Specimen Labels” if specimen label formats are defined (so specimens can be collected without errors from the application)?
Hi @Matthew_Marcetich,
You can refer below link for auto/manual labelling information-
