  • Bulk Upload - Edit Specimen or Create Parent Specimens

    Hi All

    I am using the online demo of open specimen to evaluate it and I am trying to bulk upload specimens via the bulk uploads ‘Edit Specimens’ and ‘Create Parent Specimens’, in particular I am updating the following specimen :

    Fluid (Red Top) http://h2ss.co.uk/q/os.png

    My question is, if the specimen is part of the collection protocol and has a ‘pending’ collection status attributed to it as in this case. Should I be using the ‘Edit Specimens’ or ‘Create Parent Specimens’ in this situation to amend it.

    If I use ‘Create Parent Specimens’ it creates a brand new specimen, however if I use ‘Edit Specimens’ it won’t let me modify the barcode.

    Hello Saj,

    Currently there is no easy way to edit pending specimens to mark them as collected using bulk upload. For the specimens in the screenshot you have sent, you have to get the identifiers of those pending specimens using query and using Edit Specimen template update them as collected along with other information you want to update. If barcode is missing in the template, need to update the template. We plan to support this in v2.0 where you should have option to create specimens based on protocol or unscheduled collection.

    Thanks,
    Poornima

    Hi Poornima

    Thanks for the update, looking forward to the next version of Open Specimen. So if the barcode and label are not defined, can you ensure that the ‘Edit Specimen template’ includes an identifier column in it also. Currently the ‘Edit Specimen template’ does not have an identifier column.

    Thanks

    Saj

    Can this currently be done via the Rest Api?

    @Shajid_Issa

    Not yet. We will add it to the list of things to do.
