  • Changes to SSN field

Participant page contains Social Security Number(SSN) field and the format to enter SSN is restricted to xxx-xx-xxxx. This is applicable only to U.S. Other countries would like to capture unique ID for participant but cannot use this field currently. To solve this, we are going to change this field to single field in participant page removing validations and based on system locale, users can change the name of the attribute. For example, in Australia this will be named as Medicare number.

Please let us know your comments/feedback on this.

The SSN field has generally been a red flag for potential new users here at Hopkins, and none of our users have had a need or interest in entering participant SSN. Is it possible to control whether SSN can be entered to the application? Is the SSN field encrypted? In the case of the Australia Medicare number, is this considered a MRN?

    Hello @Matthew_Marcetich

SSN field can be configured to be hidden on participant page, but this is currently for whole application and not for specific protocol. SSN is not encrypted in the DB.

Medicare number is not MRN, it is similar to SSN in Australia but of different format.

    Thanks,
    Poornima
