  • Editing distributed specimens

    Hi OpenSpecimen community,

We directly distribute specimens and occasionally find end-user data entry errors that need to be corrected/edited. In order to edit data for a distributed specimen you need to open the specimen (note, we don’t return the specimen), edit the applicable data, and then re-distribute the specimen. The opening/re-distribution causes multiple distribution events even though the specimen was only distributed once. As you can imagine, this also causes inflation of distribution metrics.

Has anyone else encountered needing to edit data for distributed specimens? Any thoughts and feedback appreciated!

    Best,
    Julie

    Hi Julie

Our lab opens the specimen, edits the data and then closes the specimen. They will put a comment in the close section.
