Is the Community Edition Being Discontinued?

Hello,

I have been trying to reach out to Krishagni to get information about continuing on with OpenSpecimen’s community edition post v11, and have not been able to find any other information so I am turning to the community to ask – has the Community Edition been discontinued or is the workflows plug-in available for community edition users in any format?

My lab would like to purchase the workflows plug-in as it appears that this has been made a mandatory purchase to continue to use OpenSpecimen’s Community Edition as the software does not function out of the box without it. If you know anything or can assist me in any way on finding information it would be greatly appreciated.

You emailed us about this just a day ago. Please allow us some time to respond.

About generic question about Community Edition and Workflows:
We intend to keep the CE free and open source. However, we have yet to devise a strategy for how to provide the Workflows module. Currently, we are busy with customer upgrades to v11x+, improvements/bug fixes etc. Once we have the bandwidth (maybe in a few quarters), we will decide how to address this issue.

Until then, v10.3 will be the option if you wish to use the free and open-source version. v10.3 is a reasonably latest version and has most of the features in v11.x (ex-Workflows). So unless you wish to develop custom Workflows plugin, there is not much benefit in upgrading.
