    Issue while Adding Containers

    Hi Sri, Poornima,

    Please check Gilbert’s note below. He is trying to add our freezer info but run into some issues. That did not take place when he entered the same info in caTissue 1.2 and caTissue Plus. Please advice.

    While adding Boxes for our first Freezer, we were entering boxes for our last three Drawers. Any box we add (using Container Auto) ends up under the first box of the first drawer of the first rack3drawer, of the first shelf of the freezer. For some reason Open Specimen doesn’t see that we have three empty Drawers waiting for boxes. What I also find interesting is that for Box Type, it is set up to hold all Storage Types, even when the Specimen Class is set to All and all Specimen Types are selected. I cannot deselect a Storage Type for the Box.

    1. Why is Open Specimen placing a Box within a Box? This should not happen.
    2. Why doesn’t Open Specimen see that we have 3 empty Drawers waiting for boxes?
    3. Why in Container Auto, does the Site Name show up as the Freezer name (ITS Biorepository_Freezer_432)? Ca Tissue+ Let us name our Freezer (5A1_FR_292757) and in Container Auto pre-pended the Freezer number to each Container we added(292757_Shelf_415 or 292757_Rack3d_419). This made more sense as we could see that the Container came from a particular Freezer.

    The container auto allocation is completely based on how you set up can hold.

    1. If OS is storing Box within a Box, they you have set up the box ‘can hold’ with storage type ‘Box’. Remove this by holding ‘Ctrl’ key down and removing the selection.
    2. You need to set up Drawers’ ‘can hold’ to hold Boxes, then OS will use that. Use the manual allocation and choose from map if auto allocation is not giving you write parent location.
    3. There is no change in way containers are auto named. You can turn off auto label generation if you would like to give names of your choice.
