Lot of exciting news around the OpenSpecimen project: a new name, new public forum, upcoming end user meet and announcing the latest release.
caTissue is now OpenSpecimen
To start with we have a new name. The name “OpenSpecimen” indicates the larger application outside cancer as well as its open source nature.
OpenSpecimen v1.0 is now available for download. This marks a significant step towards transforming OpenSpecimen into a high performance, enterprise grade and open source biobanking informatics solution. This release includes a brand new much simplified Advanced Query and Dynamic Extension modules. The new REST APIs make it easier to integrate and develop custom applications.
We have now started working on OS v2.0 which will include re-architecture of the biobanking module including configuring the user interface workflows per site / protocol.
OpenSpecimen Annual Community meet:
We will soon be conducting the annual end users meeting to discuss product roadmap, community presentations, and other interesting sessions. The details will be broadcasted soon.

We now have a new community resource for end users to ask questions, communicate and collaborate.
