We are excited to announce our next webinar on two new features.
Date and Time: 25th September, 8.00 a.m. PST
To Register: Webinar Registration
In v12.2 (to be released in Nov/Dec 2025), you will see two significant enhancements in Managing kits and Specimen picklists.
The goal of these enhancements is to reduce manual steps, minimise errors, and enable real-time data entry, instead of backlogging it for later.
Managing Large Specimen Picklists
It becomes cumbersome to handle a large number of specimens (say 100s or 1000s) when you need to distribute or ship. There might be multiple people involved in handling such picklists over many days across multiple freezers.
It is not possible to know which specimens are retrieved, when, by whom, etc, and knowing how many are yet to be retrieved.
The new enhancement enables users to manage such picklists efficiently within OpenSpecimen, including helping lab users to pick specimens in real-time.
Managing Kits: Request and Register Kits
The current Kits module does not support collection coordinators in requesting new kits or registering collected kits. With these two features, the Kits module should now be able to handle all kinds of complex multi-site clinical trails or studies.
Request Kits: Collection site users can submit a request for new kits. This request will be sent to admins who can service this request. Email notifications are sent at every step.
Register Kits: Collection site users can register kits using PPID (or MRN) and kit barcode, and optionally even register the specimens collected. Currently, this process is conducted offline using Excel sheets, paper printouts, and other methods. Instead, you can now ask collection site users to log in to OpenSpecimen and register one or more kits directly in OpenSpecimen before shipping them.
We encourage you to register for this session, even if you’re in a different time zone or have a tight schedule. A recording will be shared after the webinar.
Thanks,
OpenSpecimen Team
