    Are there any labs out there that keep track of pooled specimens in OS? If so, how is this documented in OS? Do you use forms?

    I have a lab that pools specimens and they are looking for the best way to keep track of this in OS so it’s easy to query and link back to both parent specimens. I’m thinking forms is the best option but wanted to see if anyone has approached this a different way.

    Hi Lee!

    We decided to enter only the combined parent specimen into OpenSpecimen. To track that this parent specimen was pooled, we created custom fields for the team to enter in the number of pooled specimens as well as any additional details (quantities, comments, etc). These custom fields were then added to the nth step page for the types of specimens where we need to capture that info.
