I’d like to ask the OpenSpecimen community if anyone has utilized a standardized vocabulary (like SNOMED) to describe sex vs. gender and how you use the built-in field labeled ‘gender’ that comes with the standard installation.
I know that the standard ‘gender’ field can be renamed at the system level using the json to ‘sex’, but I want to know what others have done in terms of differentiating between fields like sex vs. gender and what standard ontology is being utilized across the community. We’d like these standardized so that the fields can be added to all protocols and be used to query across all protocols in the system.
